Forget Your Username or Password?
If you forgot your login information, here are some helpful tips:
Retrieve your username.
- Visit Forgot Username.
- Validate your identity by providing your Social Security number and birth date.
- For your security, your username will be sent to the email address on file for your account.
- Return to Nelnet.com and log in with the username that was emailed to you and your password.
Reset your password.
- Visit Forgot Password.
- Validate your identity by providing your Social Security number and birth date.
- An authorization code will be sent to the email address on file for your account as another layer of security.
- After you successfully enter the authorization code, you'll be prompted to create a new password. Then you can log in with your new password.
Other Login Issues?
You're locked out of your account.
If you've entered your password incorrectly for three attempts, you'll be locked out of your account for one hour to protect your account information. You must wait one hour before attempting to log in again, or you can reset your password.
Can't find your authorization code?
When you log in to your account, the authorization code is sent to either the email address or primary phone number you provided in your contact information. Look for an email or text from Nelnet. It may take a few minutes for your code to be sent.
